  1. Fair price for what you get.

  2. I have had my Ulfberhts for several months and I am extremely happy. This is the best speaker I have heard to date. I am sure there are better sounding speakers out there, but for the first time, I don’t care. My Ulfberht has the one center Be tweeter and upgraded crossover. Fit and finish are outstanding.

I have heard $50K+ setups with B&W, Sonus, Faber, etc. They just do not measure up. Everyone’s preference is different, but my top two are effortlessness and clarity. I spent many years believing the marketing and reviews that claim small box speakers sound big and will fill your living space well. I purchased large Klipsch, B&Ws, etc, trying to reach this goal. What I finally realized is I needed a large speaker that could handle music and movies effortlessly. This speaker exceeds that and then some.

My Ulfberht’s are connected to two Benchmark AHB2 amps bridged with a Marantz AV10 pre/pro. I can hear everything. Any small change in my system is clearly heard. For example, I did not know how much better Tidal sounds from an AV10 compared to Apple Music from an ATV 4K. I laugh when I hear people say they cannot hear the difference between MP3s and Hi Res music.

This speaker has it all. Deep bass, clear sparkly highs, clear mids, etc. What I really like is that the speaker is so sensitive to change. This allows you to tailor the sound to your exact needs. If you want acoustic guitar heavy music that pops out at you, no problem. You want deeper bass for a song or movie, no problem. I have listened to a movie clip at 107db with no problem (warning, I do not recommend this).

I am sure this speaker has a decibel limit, but I would not want to be in the room when it occurs. I have my max volume limited to insure I do not kill my love ones.

Lastly, this is a heavy speaker. My three family members could not lift it from one room to another. So be careful.

Eric is a design genius. This design makes so much since to me. I will keep these speakers forever. I actually want more Tekton speakers for my bedroom. I am looking at the half Ulfberht.

  3. OMG! The Encores are definitely one of the best “Full Range” speakers out there. I have mine hooked up to a Parasound A21+, Schiit Kara preamp and a California Audio Labs Icon MK2 cd player. With good source material the Encores will amaze you with how good your music will sound in your home. Playing the live tracks from Pink Floyd’s Delicate Sound of Thunder CD it sounds like you are there. The Encores are very dynamic and the bass is deep tight and accurate. The midrange and highs perfect and amazing accurate. Playing organ some tracks from Michael Murray’s The Young Bach CD, the sustained sub bass low notes are no problem for the Encores, so clean and tight. At the high end of the organ notes pinpoint accurate and so satisfying. For jazz music, Herb Alpert’s Second Wind CD will blow you away with how good it sounds. Do I like these speakers? No, I love them! I highly recommend them. No regrets on buying these. I would do it all over again. Thank you Eric Alexander for building such a wonderful speaker for those of us who love music to enjoy.

  4. These speakers were ordered the middle August 2023. They were delivered the first part of November. I ordered them with the basic black with red wave guides (the things that look to me like flowers). Tektons web site doesn’t mention it but there are a number of other colors that can be chosen for the wave guides: red, blue, green yellow/gold, black, white or purple. The wave guides can also be painted any color you want. My choice was to have a contrast so that the speakers “made a statement”.
Down side – these are big box speakers. You need the room to put them in including room on the sides.
How they sound. When I received them the base (2 15” woofers) were harsh. I put some foam stuffed socks it the 2 front port holes to soften the base during the break in. I have an Anthem AVM 70 processor and an over kill with a Parasound A31 amp. I also raised how low the base goes. After a week or 2 the socks were removed and the base was readjusted. The horn speakers sounded great from the start. It was only the woofers that needed the break in. The only room correction that I used was to measure the distance from the listening position to the speakers.
I use the speakers in my TV room for both watching TV and listening to music. They are great. I don’t know how to explain it but sound that comes out is effortless. The speakers just disappear. The sound doesn’t come from the speakers. I don’t know how to explain it but the sound it is just there in front of you. They do not make what some call a “horny sound”. I listen to a wide variety of music in addition to the TV. These speakers handle everything with no effort. I don’t even use the center channel speaker anymore.
I have several pieces of music that I use to see if the speakers can handle them. These are the intro to 2001 Space Odyssey, Riders in the Sky, Billy Jean (Michael Jackson) and Easy Money by Sant Andreu Jazz Band (2011) and Cantate Domino – Oh Holy Night. These speakers are, as I said before, effortless. The organ in Oh Holy Night sounds like an organ not just a load harsh rumble. You can see the drummer 2001 Space Odyssey pounding the drum.
I would buy these speakers gain.

  5. I have the DI SE’s driven with an old Onkyo M508/P308 that I bought new in Japan around 1989. They sound wonderful, loud and clear with bass on any type of music. I added a pair of the 4-10 subwoofers and added some depth. I have a Pro-next turntable with a Sumiko moonstone cartridge that sounds excellent with this set up.
